Hey Aaron,

I think NAFTA hurt and certainly tainted Clinton even though it was the doing of her husband. I read and liked both of these reflections:

The Myth of the Rust Belt Revolt

Rust Belt Was Already Turning Red, Donald Trump Just Pushed It Along

At the end of the day, I think it boils down to the fact that even though Clinton had a strong economic policy which would have positively impacted these peoples’ lives; she didn’t spend enough time communicating that to them exclusively AND that “coal jobs” remark really hurt her (because it kept getting taken out of context because no one heard about what she was replacing them with.
