Well, I sure picked a day to launch a podcast about fake news, didn’t I? Director James Comey disclosed that the FBI is indeed investigating Trump’s Russian connections to determine if his campaign colluded with Russia to influence the 2016 election.

In the wake of the 2016 election and the revelations of Russian hacking and disinformation campaigns the subject I was most drawn to was fake news. Maybe because it integrates so seamlessly into social media — a field i’ve spent the greater part of my career working in — or feeds into echo chambers — a subject i’m genuinely fascinated by. Whatever the reason, I recognised fake news wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon. In fact, it’s being discussed more and more frequently, perhaps because it’s become a catch all term for unfavourable news coverage Donald Trump doesn’t like.

Still, fake news is so much more than that…it’s a rabbit hole you can’t climb out of, for which i’m glad because it means I’ve got a LOT to talk about. I’m grateful to join the ForeverDog Podcast Network and launch Fake It Til You Break It: A podcast focusing on all the issues surrounding fake news. We released the first two episodes today! I hope you’ll take a few minutes to listen.

Episode One focuses on Russian Cyber warfare and features Deputy Foreign Policy Advisor for the @HillaryClinton campaign @BishopGarrison.

Episode Two focuses on the role digital publishing plays in the distribution of fake news and features Mark Glaser of MediaShift.org.

I hope you’ll have a listen and subscribe! We’ve got a bunch of fun guests coming on and I hope you’ll tune in. New episodes drop on Mondays.
